Cultivate, Aveda, and Charity: Water

At Cultivate, we are proud to work with Aveda, a company that has pioneered sustainable beauty and business practices that give back to the planet we all call home. The well-being of people, animals, and the planet guides their business practices and ingredient selection for their products.

Charity: Water has the same goal…building a better future for everyone on Earth by providing access to clean and safe water.

Charity: Water has been around since 2006 with one ambitious goal: ending the global water crisis. By making progress each day towards this goal, they believe by working together, we can end this crisis and provide access to life’s most basic need.

Did you know that 703 MILLION people in the world live without clean water? That’s twice the population of the United States. The majority live in rural, isolated areas and spend hours each day finding and collecting water for their families. But unfortunately, most of the water they find often carries diseases.

The diseases from dirty water kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. And what is the most heartbreaking statistic is that children under the age of 5 are on average more than 20 times more likely to die from illnesses linked to unsafe water. Clean water definitely changes everything.

Easy access to clean water not only helps keep children healthy, it helps keep kids in school, especially girls. Women and girls are responsible for water collection in 8 out of 10 households with water off premises. When a community gets water, women and girls get their lives back to start businesses, improve their homes, and take charge of their lives. That is something Cultivate can stand behind 100%!

One saying we fully believe is: When you know better, you do better. And that is why bringing awareness to Charity: Water is so important to us. When we know there is a crisis over something as basic as water, it helps us know where and how we can help. In our little world, access to clean water at any time is a given, where others yearn for the access we have.

When we know better, we can do better and really help make a change.

This month as we celebrate Earth Month, let’s help tackle this problem together. We have in-salon promotions going on the entire month as well as our BYOB&B classes where proceeds go straight to Charity: Water to help make a difference.
